EDP and MERLIN Edged partner to boost clean energy at a data center in Portugal.

EDP and MERLIN Edged have signed an agreement to supply clean energy to Portugal’s first carbon-neutral data center campus.

This initiative aims to meet the growing demand for renewable energy solutions to power technological infrastructure and contributes to the consolidation of the Iberian Peninsula as a leading technology hub in Europe.

For EDP, this will be the largest decentralized solar energy project in a single location, with solar plants capable of reaching 100 MWp of installed capacity to power these data centers.

Thanks to the collaboration between the two companies, the capacity and benefits of the solar installation will be maximized, and the supply of clean energy will be guaranteed from the first day of operation of the campus, which is already under development in the municipality of Vila Franca de Xira.
